Sign Ribbon Cutting

September 12 , 2016 at 530 pm the VFW Post 4090 did a presentation ribbon cutting for their new sign to replace the sign that was destroyed in the Tornado in June of 2015. Commander Bill Almy Thanked all who helped, donated their time and money to this project . A big Thank you to Portland City Manager Tutt Gorman for helping with the approval for the new sign. Portland Mayor Jim Barnes, Cook Brothers Excavating for installation of the sign, RCP Artist Services for the Design and printing of the emblem signs. APEC of Lake Odessa for their generous donation of time , design help and assembly, powder coating of the new sign. Bob Walker for the creating the design and following through with getting the sign made at APEC and transporting it to the post. Plaques were presented to those who donated their time for this project. This new sign will last for many years to come. Great job everyone. We hope you enjoy the sign as much as we do!

Vietnam Memorial Wall 2016

At 10:30 in the morning on September 16,2016 , the Portland VFW 4090 had the honor of hosting a layover to the Freedom Riders and the Vietnam Traveling Wall heading towards there final destination today in Fowler MI. Members and riders from other posts were there to share the experience and show their respect for those Michigan Veterans who lost their lives so many years ago. Thank you to all who came to show their respect, Thank you to the Portland Police Department for their great job as escorts. Thank you to the Ionia Fire Department for the use of their ladder truck that hung the flag. Most of all.. THANK YOU for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice with their lives for our freedom, It was an honor to honor you.
